Half the fun of origami food is the props: a tiny cup, a little plate, and something to serve it with. This model is the something to serve it with - a small paper shovel or scoop, cut and folded from one sheet in nine steps.

There is very little to read here. Every step is a photograph, so you cut where the photo cuts and fold where the photo folds, and the scissors come out twice: once at the start, and once to round off the scoop. Put one next to a folded cake or a bowl of paper ice cream and the whole scene suddenly makes sense.

Follow the photos below; each step shows exactly where to cut or fold.

STEP 1

Cut the sheet with scissors as shown.

Keep only the larger of the two pieces.

STEP 2

Fold along the line shown in the photo.

STEP 3

Turn it over.

STEP 4

Fold it in half to make a crease.

STEP 5

Fold along the line shown in the photo.

STEP 6

Cut with scissors as shown in the photo.

STEP 7

Fold along the line shown in the photo.

STEP 8

Fold along the line shown in the photo.

STEP 9

Turn it over.

All done!

Your origami shovel is complete.
