Every spring, cherry blossoms remind us how a small, simple thing can brighten a whole room — and you can capture that feeling with just a sheet of pink paper. These little 3D blossoms look lovely scattered across a shelf, tucked into a card, or pinned to a wreath.

In this tutorial we'll build a dimensional origami cherry blossom from a single square, using a few snips of the scissors and a staple to give it that soft, rounded petal shape. It looks intricate, but take it step by step and you'll be surprised how approachable it is.

Hello there! Spring is the perfect time to add a handmade touch to your space, so let's fold something that captures the season.

In this guide I'll show you how to fold a three-dimensional origami cherry blossom — a lovely little decoration for your new spring life.

How to Fold a 3D Origami Cherry Blossom

Cherry blossoms are pink, of course, so pink origami paper works beautifully here.

Let's get folding!

STEP 1: Cut a 15 cm square of ordinary origami paper in half vertically and use one of the halves.

STEP 2: With the back side facing up, mark a horizontal fold line across the paper.

STEP 3: Fold the bottom edge up along that fold line.

STEP 4: Fold it back down along the bottom edge.

STEP 5: Turn the paper over and fold the bottom edge up to align with the center fold line.

STEP 6: Crease the top edge along the center fold line.

STEP 7: Lift and fold the center crease upward along the existing fold line.

STEP 8: Unfold it for a moment, align the left and right sides, then crease.

STEP 9: Cut with scissors as shown in the photo.

STEP 10: Fold it again along the fold line.

STEP 11: Staple along the vertical fold line, fastening slightly above the middle of the crease.

STEP 12: On the right side, sketch a guide as shown in the photo, fold it in half, and cut it out with scissors.

STEP 13: Cut between the small holes with scissors. You'll end up with three pieces, including one with a single hole.

STEP 14: Open the paper and glue it at the spot shown in the figure.

STEP 15: Curl the petals and shape them to finish.

And that's it — nicely done!

How did it go?

It's not difficult to fold at all.
