Origami Flat Sunflower
Some origami projects are secretly crafts in disguise, and this flat sunflower is one of them. It is not a single sheet folded into a miracle; it is a folded yellow blossom with a paper circle glued on for the centre, and that is precisely why a toddler can manage it. You will need a pair of scissors and a glue stick alongside your paper, but the folding itself is barely four moves.
Do not let the simplicity fool you into skipping it. A row of these in different sizes makes a bright window display, and the brown centre circle is a handy place to write a name or a greeting. Make one as a first project with a child, then make a dozen and call it a field.
A flat sunflower - easy enough for children!
You will need: one 15 cm yellow sheet, one 7.5 cm brown sheet, scissors, a marker, and glue.
STEP 1. Fold the square into a triangle twice, making creases vertically and horizontally.

STEP 2. Fold all four corners toward the centre.

STEP 3. Fold the four corners to the back along the dotted lines.

STEP 4. Cut a circle from paper, draw a pattern on it, and glue it to the centre.

STEP 5. And you are done.
