Not every origami project needs an hour and a pile of creases. This little cake is nine steps, one sheet of paper, and done - the kind of make you can knock out while the kettle boils.

Make one and it is a charming trinket; make five in different colours and suddenly you have a cake stand. They are lovely as party table decorations, place cards, or props for a play shop.

STEP 1

Fold the paper in half.

STEP 2

Fold it as shown in the picture.

STEP 3

Turn the paper over.

STEP 4

Fold it as shown in the picture.

STEP 5

Turn the paper over.

STEP 6

Fold it at the position shown in the photo.

STEP 7

Turn it over and it is in the position shown in the photo.

STEP 8

Fold it in half and crease it firmly.

STEP 9

Turn the paper over.

Completion
