Kabuto
The kabuto is the proud helmet of the Japanese samurai, and folding one out of paper is a small nod to that tradition — perfect for Children’s Day or just for the love of Japanese culture. Don’t be fooled by how ornate a real kabuto looks; this paper version comes together in just eight tidy steps, mostly a matter of lining up corners and tucking flaps. It’s the kind of fold that feels traditional and a little special without demanding advanced technique, so it’s great to make with older kids. Fold a row of them in bold colors and you’ve got a tiny stand of samurai helmets. Let’s build one.
Way of folding
STEP 1. Begin with the square folded diagonally into a triangle.

STEP 2. Fold it so that the left and right corners are aligned with the center.

STEP 3. Turn the paper over and fold the left and right corners up so they meet at the top point.

STEP 4. Make the corner of the helmet.

STEP 5. Fold the top piece.

STEP 6. Fold it again in the same way.

STEP 7. Fold the bottom piece back.

STEP 8. It's done.

[Points of folding]
When folding the corner of the helmet of 4, try to fold it symmetrically as much as possible.
If you make it with newspaper, you can actually use it, but if you make it with origami, it will be a little decoration.
It's nice to have an atmosphere for decorations for Children's Day!
Also, if you make it with a little smaller origami paper, you can attach it to a postcard and it will be a little accent!
Even children can easily fold it, so please enjoy making it with your children.
